A Silver-Gilt Mounted Guilloché Enamel and Bowenite Clock
Marked Fabergé with the Imperial warrant, with the workmaster's mark of Julius Rappoport, St Petersburg, 1899-1908
Of architectural form, on a bowenite base, the oyster enamel dial with red Arabic chapters, set in a rectangular panel of translucent red enamel over a sunburst guilloché ground, all within a pillared surround, surmounted by an openwork gallery, with glazed side panels and door to the reverse, containing a rear-wound movement with twin spring barrels and platform lever escapement, striking on a gong, the backplate with hand-set, stamped for Drocourt, numbered 34210 and stamped 'Made in Paris', marked on front and side lower mounts

Lot Essay

A Fabergé red enamelled bowenite clock, workmaster Julius Rappoport, of similar form, with Imperial eagle and hardstone cresting, part of a garniture, was sold at Christie's London, 30 November 2004, lot 522.
Another Fabergé red enamelled bowenite clock, workmaster Julius Rappoport, of almost identical architectural form and retailed by Lacloche was sold Christie's, Geneva, 11 May 1982, lot 339.
