Lot Essay

Piaget produced the present incredible timepiece in 1999. Though not unique, the reference GOA19599 had a very small run, made in versions with all diamonds, diamonds with rubies, diamonds with sapphires and diamonds with emeralds.

A highly prized model, Piaget flew a pair of diamond and emerald-set Kanthara wristwatches in from Geneva for the glamorous 1996 opening of their first North American boutique on New York's Fifth Avenue. At the time the pair was reported to be valued at 2.7 million dollars.

The Kanthara originally was manufactured with 267 diamonds on the case and bracelet at approximately 100 carats and with 40 diamonds on the dial at approximately 5 carats.
