'Centimètre', a design for a carpet for E-1027, gouache and traces of pencil on paper, by Eileen Gray, circa 1926-1929

A rug to this design can be identified in contemporary photographs of the living room of Miss Gray's 'Maison en bord de mer, E-1027'. The design has a distinct and appropriate maritime flavour, both in the colour and in the motif evocative of a ship's Plimsoll Line.

Une photographie d'époque illustre un tapis d'après ce carton dans le salon de la Maison en bord de mer, E-1027, de Mlle Gray. Sa couleur ainsi que son motif, qui suggère la ligne de flotaison d'un bateau, évoquent le monde marin.
