Le plateau rectangulaire en laiton nickelé, bordé de deux frises de motifs géométriques (traces), centré d'une plaque en verre incolore à fond givré, la ceinture en aluminium à décor d'une frise alternée de carrés en laiton patiné noir, reposant sur deux pieds latéraux en bronze formés chacun de trois U alignés, les extrémités agrémentées de deux tiges en laiton encadrant une tige crénelée, la base rectangulaire à gradins en fer patiné noir, aluminium et laiton

The Fox & Co. flagship department store in Hartford, Connecticut, stood as one of the country's leading retail establishments during the second quarter of the 20th century. In the 1930s, Auerbach updated the original 1917 building with Art Deco interiors inspired by current trends in Paris and New York. Newly streamlined spaces were complemented by metal furniture and display cases. This piece served as display table in the Millinery Salon on the fifth floor.

Lot Essay

G. Fox & Co., l'une des marques les plus importantes de grands magasins américains de l'entre-deux-guerres, avait pour emplacement à Hartford dans le Connecticut, construit en 1917. Dans les années 30, Auerbach entreprend de le réaménager en s'inspirant de l'architecture Art Déco en vogue à Paris et à New York. Ces espaces nouvellement structurés seront complétés par des meubles et vitrines d'exposition métalliques. Cette table servira de présentoir dans le rayon chapellerie situé au 5ème étage du magasin.
