Lot Essay

The Comité Sisley confirms the authenticity of this work. This work will be included in the new edition of the catalogue raisonné of Alfred Sisley by François Daulte, being prepared at the Galerie Brame & Lorenceau by the Comité Alfred Sisley.

This drawing was executed on the banks of the Seine near the Ile de la Grande Jatte, as the statue depicted seems to be the now famous Statue of Liberty executed by Bartholdi which was installed there shortly after the large version in New York Harbour.
