PICHON BARON
Château Pichon-Longueville Baron was built as it stands today by Raoul de Pichon Longueville. In 1933 it was purchased by the Bouteiller family and sold to the AXA Millésimes, the French insurance conglomerate in 1988. AXA Millésimes hired Jean-Michel Cazes to manage the estate and he completely restored the château to its former glory. Cazes retired in 2001 and was replaced by Christian Seely, and Englishman who has continued in the tradition of excellence begun by his predecessor. The vineyards of Château Pichon-Longueville Baron (or Pichon-Baron for short) are a stone's throw away from those of Château Latour, and they share the fantastic terroir of gravelly soil and southerly exposure.
