Leiris, Paris, 1962, with wide margins, the colours fresh and strong, mount staining, very pale moisture staining visible in the lower margin, otherwise in good condition

Lot Essay

In Brigitte Baer's illustration for the final, published state, the background behind the reclining figure of Danaé is printed in a sky blue. There does, however, appear to have been some variation in the ink used, as some impressions, such as the present one are printed in a starker, off-white tone.
