1962 VINTAGE

****

"Thoroughly upstaged by the quality, the sheer bravado of the preceding year. But because the 1961 vintage wsa very small and, in the light of the times, very expensive, the abudant crop of the very good '62s following a satisfactory growing season, proved useful. I have always liked this now somewhat underrated and largely overlooked vintage. It was particulary successful in Pomerol.

First tasted in October 1964; the bulk of some very considerable notes were made in the 1970's and 1980's. Most were at their best in the ten years staddling these two decades but many are still drinking well, and because they are largely forgotten, and relatively inexpensive, are worth looking out for at auction or from specialist merchants and brokers."
