Maker's mark indistinct, apparently 'M.?', Moscow, 1908-1917
Rectangular with rounded corners, the hinged cover set with an en plein enamel plaque depicting a peasant with his horse and dog, surrounded by varicolor stylized scrolling foliage, whorls and geometric motifs on a brick red ground, within a border of leaves, whorls and stylized flowers on a navy blue ground, the base with conforming decoration, with simulated cabochon ruby push-piece, marked in field
