Lot Essay

With Audemars Piguet undated Certificat d'Authenticité et d'Exclusivité, sales tag and instructions manual. Furthermore delivered with black presentation box centred by metal plaque inscribed Juan Pablo Montoya - Royal Oak Offshore Limited Edition and outer packaging.

The Royal Oak Offshore Montoya in platinum was made in a limited edition of 100 examples. The present watch is number 100.

Encapsulating the most cutting edge research undertaken in the sphere of Formula 1 motor racing, Audemars Piguet teamed up with F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya in producing a unique timepiece, the Royal Oak Offshore Juan Pablo Montoya. Numerous details of the watch reflect the aesthetics and technical features of racing cars. Witness the screws on the removable bezel, which are not hexagonal, but instead shaped like cylinder head screws; the crown is reminiscent of a wheel axle; the chronograph pushers resemble cooling flaps; and the rotor of the movement like a clutch disc. And to the discerning eye, the dial is adorned with the distinctive "tapisserie" motif, which upon inspection and imagination, reveals a chequered flag - the sign of victory for the first driver to cross the finishing line.
