The so-called "Digital" or "Jump Hour" watches enjoyed a great popularity between the late 1920s and the mid-1930s, the sober and purely functional design reflecting the period of great economic depression following the Wall Street crash in 1929.
The present watch is a particularly elegant example of such a "jump hour" watch, distinguished by the two colour gold case and the attractive overall condition.
For a black and white archival image of a similar watch see Audemars Piguet by Gisbert L. Brunner, Christian Pfeiffer-Belli, Martin K. Wehrli, first edition, p. 210, pl. 213.
