Lot Essay

With Blancpain original letter in German confirming that the present watch, number XIX/XXV, was completed in June 1987 by master watchmaker Charles André Piguet. The letter is signed by then Blancpain CEO Jean-Claude Biver and dated 12 June 1987. Furthermore delivered with original envelope and Blancpain black presentation box.

Minute repeating wristwatches are amongst the rarest specialties of 20th century watchmaking due to the extremely difficult task of reducing the size of the repeating mechanism to fit into a case of wearable proportions.

In 1988, Blancpain introduced one of the most complex and smallest minute repeating movements ever produced. This exceptional movement - the slimmest in the world - made Blancpain a specialist in the crafting of these masterpieces.
