Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificat d'Origine et de Garantie, original fitted presentation box and two spare crystals. Furthermore delivered with the Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial and raised hour markers in gold in 1929 and its subsequent sale on 30 January 1935.

This watch is a highly attractive example of one of Patek Philippe's early rectangular wristwatches, made at a time when reference numbers for the individual models had not yet been attributed. Fresh to the market and preserved in very good, original overall condition, the watch is distinguished by the combination of highly desirable features such as the yellow and white gold case of typical Art Deco style geometrical shape and the presence of the original certificate and presentation box still including two spare crystals, all rarities by themselves.

Research has resulted in the discovery that only two other of such two-tone gold rectangular curved wristwatches have appeared in public to date, one in yellow and white gold, one in pink and white gold, however both with different dial layouts, hence rendering all examples unique.
