Lot Essay

With 9K pink gold chain, the fob with Queen Victoria 22K gold Sovereign dated 1893.

During her reign from 1838 to 1901, Queen Victoria gold sovereigns were coined with three different portraits (the young head, the jubilee head and the old, or widow, head) and two types of St. George and the dragon.

The present sovereign features the "Jubilee Head", a design produced to commemorate Queen Victoria's jubilee year in 1887, used for all gold and silver coins showing the Queen wearing a small coronet. The Jubilee sovereigns were struck from 1887 to 1893 inclusive.
