BY THE IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST PETERSBURG, PERIOD OF ALEXANDER II
The cup cylindrical, the dark blue body centred by a trompe-l'oeil cameo painted with a bust of a classicising lady in profile on a ground imitating pink chalcedony, within classical style continuous friezes and ciselé borders, further decorated with hexagonal cartouches painted with classical vases issuing gilt flower sprays and flanked with stylised scrolling foliage, the gilt handle formed as an upswept scroll, the saucer with conforming decoration, marked under bases with underglaze green factory mark (2)
