Gilt-finished three-quarter plate movement, some jewels carried in screwed gold chatons, gold cuvette, white enamel dial, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, engine-turned case with open cartouche to the front lid, interior of back lid inscribed WARREN PACKARD, Nov. 20th, 1860, case stamped GW & Co., dial signed American Watch Co., movement signed Appleton, Tracy & Co.

Lot Essay

Watches sold under the name of Appleton, Tracy & Co. were produced from June of 1857 until January of 1859 when the firm was renamed the American Watch Company. This was just one of many changes of corporate identity over the life of Waltham production.
