Lot Essay

The London founders, Morris Singer Sculpture Association Ltd., with Christie's Contemporary Art, commissioned eight artists in the early 1970s to create twelve sculptures in total from 18 carat yellow gold, measuring less than twelve inches in width. Each sculpture was cast in an edition of twelve and the subjects were chosen as representative of the work of each artist. The eight artists included Elisabeth Frink, Lynn Chadwick, Barbara Hepworth, Michael Ayrton, and Kenneth Armitage.
