Levels: two bottom neck, two very top shoulder, seven top shoulder; one very slightly nicked label, very good appearance and color at this age
In original wooden case with damaged lid
"The 1961 Palmer showed spectacularly well at our recent horizontal of the 1961 vintage. The ine was almost impossibly youthful, with plenty of blackcurrant fruit character remaining, but a great spicy, peppery complexity along with notes of violets, cedar, cigar leaf and autumn leaves. On the palate the wine was very dense, with polished tannins still in evidence. The finish was long and very well balanced. This is a wine not yet at its peak - I would say there are several decades left at least for the well-stored bottle." CC, May 2011
