Lot Essay

The artist commented 'The river life fascinated me - the docks, the parks, the Guards and then Henley in the Summer ... There was plenty to paint and I decidedly went for all these manifestations of traditional English life' (see Exhibition catalogue; A Tribute to Paul Maze, London, Marlborough, 1967, p. 10).
