Lot Essay

The Sorø Academy is a public boarding school and gymnasium in Sorø, Denmark. It was founded in the 12th Century and since then has always been considered a high profile educational institution.
A similar painting by the same artist is nowadays in the Sorø Art Museum ('Sylvan scene near Sorø', circa 1850).
