Lot Essay

The first owner of this painting, Marie Closset, was a poet and close painter of the Post-Impressionist painter, Theo van Rysselberghe. She published her poetry under the pseudonym Jean Dominique, and was a member of a leading group of avant-garde poets, who called themselves "The Peacocks".

This painting has been examined by Galerie Brame & Lorenceau, and will be included in their electronic archive on the artist with the title "Sur un chemin, vue panoramique".
