Lot Essay

US$49,000-65,000

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 8 October 2006, setting pin and original fitted presentation box.

Reference 5059 was introduced in 1998 and was replaced by reference 5159 in 2006. The model possesses the intriguing complication of a perpetual calendar mechanism with retrograde date hand, and is one of the very few perpetual calendar wristwatches with sweep centre seconds. Furthermore, it displays another of Patek Philippe's celebrated traditions - the Officer-style case, featuring a hinged dust cover that protects the sapphire crystal display back.
