Special Notice
Prospective purchasers are advised that several countries prohibit the importation of property containing materials from endangered species, including but not limited to coral, ivory, tortoiseshell and crocodile. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should familiarize themselves with relevant customs regulations prior to bidding if they intend to import this lot into another country. On occasion, Christie's has a direct financial interest in lots consigned for sale which may include guaranteeing a minimum price or making an advance to the consignor that is secured solely by consigned property. This is such a lot. This indicates both in cases where Christie's holds the financial interest on its own, and in cases where Christie's has financed all or a part of such interest through a third party. Such third parties generally benefit financially if a guaranteed lot is sold successfully and may incur a loss if the sale is not successful.

Lot Essay

US$300,000-500,000

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated November 1993, instruction manual, product literature, original fitted presentation box and outer packaging. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the watch with silvery opaline-white dial with 11 Breguet hour markers in yellow gold in 1993 and its subsequent sale on 23 November 1993.

Preserved in excellent, nearly new condition, this watch represents an extremely rare opportunity for the discerning collector to acquire this masterwork of modern horology.

Further to our research, a detailed count reveals that the present reference 5013 offered here for auction is one of only five examples in yellow gold to have reappeared on the market since its introduction in 1992.

With the production of reference 5013 ceasing in 2010 and the extreme rarity this lot represents, scholars and collectors will agree that this icon belongs in any important collection of modern wristwatches today.
