Lot Essay

Tony Sanchez, a close acquaintance, first met the Rolling Stones in the mid 1960s, and would eventually become involved with the most intimate details of the band's relationships and lifestyles. His biography, 'Up and Down with the Rolling Stones', first published in 1991, was seen as a major expose of the extreme Rock and Roll excesses that the Stones had led in the heady 1960s, written by an insider it provided frank details of many infamous episodes including their time in the South of France, the Redland's drug bust and the relationship between Brian Jones and his fellow band members as well as intimate details of their female companions.
