Rectangular, on four rounded feet, the silver cover repoussé and chased throughout with stylised flowers and scrolling foliage, set with four amethyst cabochons, centring an enamel plaque depicting King Nicholas I of Montenegro on horseback, with later green cloth interior revealing the reverse of the front plaque, inscribed in Russian '...[To] Iosif Petrovich Novikov in good memory from the grateful citizens Tsarskoe Selo 1905-191(1)', marked on silver plaque
