1:11:00 (After the Birds) is a psychologically captivating canvas from rising artist Costantino Zicarelli. This work, and its anterior counterpart 1:10:17, were inspired by an Alfred Hitchcock film, The Birds. Within the two juxtaposing scenes, Zicarelli recreates a suspenseful moment in the film when an innocently empty playground is suddenly shown to be inundated with blackbirds, causing a viewer to question the thin line between anticipation of the conventional and disruptive reality. The numerical title - drawn from the cinematographic frame timer which breaks a film sequence into nano-seconds - reflects the brief time required to shatter the fa?ade of normality and plunge into the dissonant dystopia of Zicarelli's universe.
