LOTS 2158-2159 PAINTINGS FROM THE MO GUI TANG COLLECTION The owner of the Mo Gui Tang collection Li Qiaofeng was born in 1921 in Guangdong. With a passionate love for Chinese paintings and calligraphy, Li studied under the tutelage of many artists, particularly Zhang Daqian. During Zhang Daqian's visits to Hong Kong, Li would play host to him and spend time together discussing the arts.

One of the titleslips by Hu Yisheng (1883-1957) and frontispiece by Deng Erya (1884-1954).
The other titleslip and frontispiece by Feng Kanghou (1901-1983)
A set of two albums; one of thirteen leaves; the other of eleven leaves; ink and colour/ink on paper
Each leaf measures 8.3 x 22 cm. (3 1/4 x 8 5/8 in.)

Lot Essay

A native of Guangdong, Ma Xiaorang, sobriquet Binfu, was a known scholar and collector, with close ties to the paintings community in the Guangdong region. His brother Ma Fu, sobriquet Wu Zhong, was also a famous collector of the arts.
