Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1912 and its subsequent sale on July 18th, 1949.

The present watch is a fine horological example and makes the perfect apprecation gift for Arthur Lawrence Stewart. An engineer Mr. Stewart maintained a long and distinguished career with the Gleason Works of Rochester, NY. He was Vice-President, Chief Engineer and Director, as well as on the Board of Directors. Mr. Stewart was known for his elegant designs and knowledge of Bevel and Hypoid gears. In 1913, he was the designer of the first machine for cutting spiral bevel gears, following a process developed James E. Gleason. A member of The Society of Automobile Engineers he wrote several treaties and lectured on the subject. A graduate of University of Rochester and Cornell University, he was a member of the Baptist church and serviced both as chairman and trustee for the board of Colgate Rochester Divinity School. This fresh to the market repeating Patek Philippe is a fine example of outstanding horology manufacturing and tribute to a historically interesting figure.
