1989 Nicolas release. Lots 97-100; Pillet-Will labels, good appearance. Levels base of neck. Lot 101; Pillet-Will label, slightly stained and damaged. Level base of neck. Lot 102; Pillet-Will label, good appearance. Level just below top-shoulder
Tasting note: The greatest Margaux of the period. Most recently, two bottles, one dark and oxidised, the other medium-pale, with a bright, ruddy glow; whiff of mushrooms yet still fragrant; sweet, 'faisant', better flavour than nose but not at its greatest. Last tasted June 2004. At best ***** M.B.
