Lot Essay

As an Iraqi/British artist, Lina Ogaily's painting has become a statement and a voice to express her thoughts, fears and dreams inspired by the political turmoil in Iraq. Her subject matter focuses on Middle Eastern women's plight in withstanding social pressures in their day-to-day life. She has always been fascinated with different painting techniques, working mainly with acrylics, but also using inks, oils and mixed media.
