Lot Essay

Sara Shamma was chosen in 2010 as a Celebrity Partner for the World Food Programme after her visit to a refugee camp in her native country Syria, she has created the Fighting Hunger painting inspired by the suffering of the vulnerable refugees and hungry people and the response of WFP; Syrian prominent film director Nabil Al-Maleh produced a documentary about the phases of the creation of the painting and its relation with needy people and WFP projects, as contribution to Shammas campaign. The revealing of Fighting Hunger painting and the premiere of the movie Story of a Painting took place in Damascus Opera House on March 14, 2011. The painting was exhibited in the National Museum of Damascus during the month of April 2011. The image of Fighting Hunger painting was published in over 100 articles in different local, regional and international magazines.
