Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with diamond hour markers in 1953 and its subsequent sale on 12 May 1954.

This watch is distinguished by its excellent, close to new old stock overall condition and the attractive diamond-set dial, beautifully harmonizing with the satined platinum case. Fresh to the market it is furthermore believed to be one of only three examples of a reference 2488 in platinum with diamond-set numerals to appear in public to date.
Reference 2488 was in production from 1951 until the 1960s and was available in all four case materials. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 160.
