Pablo Picasso réalisa treize assiettes sur le thème de la colombe de la paix à l'occasion du XIIIe congrès du Parti Communiste Français en juin 1954. Chaque titulaire et suppléant a reçu un exemplaire unique à cette occassion, dont Monsieur Léon Feix, propriétaire initial de la présente oeuvre.

On the occasion of the 13th Congress of the French Communist Party, Pablo Picasso executed thirteen plates employing as motif the Dove of Peace. Each member of the Congress, including Mr. Leon Feix, the first owner of the present work, received as a gift one of these unique plates.
