Lot Essay

In 1914 Johan Thorn Prikker was given the opportunity to experiment with different materials by Gottfried Heinersdorff (director of an innovative glass studio in Berlin) and mosaic studio Puhl & Wagner, which offered the artist new options. The mosaic Music and dance was designed for the Stadthalle in Hagen and represents Religious and Profane musik. The present lot shows the upper part of Profane musik. The design for this mosaic is in the collection of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld.
