A RARE COLOURED DIAMOND RING
Set with a pear-shaped fancy brown-yellow diamond weighing 40.94 carats, mounted in 18k rose gold, ring size 5½

Accompanied by report no. 2131965083 dated 17 October 2011 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the 40.94 carat diamond is fancy brown-yellow, natural colour, VS1 clarity; also accompanied by a supplemental letter from the Gemological Institute of America stating the 40.94 carat diamond has been determined to be type IIa. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency. Type IIa diamonds were first identified as originating from India (particularly from the Golconda region) but have since been recovered in all major diamond-producing regions of the world. Among famous gem diamonds, the 530.20 carat Cullinan and the 105.60 carat Koh-i-noor, are examples of Type IIa

Also accompanied by report no. 11110152 dated 12 December 2011 from the Gübelin Gemmological Laboratory stating that 40.94 carat diamond is fancy light brown, natural colour, VS1 clarity; also accompanied by a note and stating that based on its infrared spectrum, the 40.94 carat diamond is classified as a Type IIa; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the 40.94 carat diamond displays an antique shape and cutting style which were often encountered in the 17th and 18th centuries. During this period of time, a perfect symmetry was not an important issue. Minor irregularities in both size and shape of the different facets, resulting in some leakage of light, are therefore rather expected characteristics of these old cuts. Diamonds such as this are endowed with distinct personality and charm which are not found in the more modern brilliant cutting styles
