LOTS 2921-2922
FROM A PRIVATE AMERICAN COLLECTION
These two paintings have been with the present
owner for over forty years. Having been exposed to
Chinese arts and culture during her time inTaipei as
a student in the 1960s, the collector became an
admirer of Chinese Modern paintings, in particular
Zhang Daqians works. One day she was admiring two
ink drawings at the family residence which she was
staying at, one by Zhang and the other by Pu Ru.
The owner gifted the paintings to her on condition
that she took care of her daughter who planned to go
to the US to study in the future. The present collector
later moved out of the family residence to live in the
International House ofTaipei, before returning to the
States.
