Lot Essay
"For Michael 13, 2011, the collective RS revisits Yves Klein's 'pinceaux vivants' but with some noteworthy differences: in this case, the living paintbrush is not a nameless woman but a man named Michael Sanchez, a friend of the artist who is currently working on his PhD in Art History at Columbia University and is known for his critical writings on contemporary art and networks. Also, the color is magenta and Michael is not completely naked. This painting is part of a series of 'Michael' paintings produced at the Studio Indipendenza in Rome, 2011."
