Lot Essay

In Long Happy Hours; Thereby Happiness, fine architectural compositions warm up the canvas with soothing reds, oranges and yellows; recreating a contemporary perspective of a growing city. As the art critic of The New York Times, Holland Cotter, writes, "Cities in Asia are changing fast. They're going up and coming down at about equal speed. Urban culture, flooded with global goods and media, is changing too. Inevitably, such transformations have a big impact on art and are the subjects of new work by Anant Joshi, who lives and work in Mumbai.' (H. Cotter, 'Art in Review; Anant Joshi', The New York Times, 27 October 2006)
