ALOÏSE (1886-1964) Aloïse zählt neben Adolf Wölfli und Louis Soutter zu den wichtigsten Vertretern der Art Brut in der Schweiz, einer Kunstform, die autodidaktische Kunst von Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung bezeichnet. Aloïse lebte ab ihrem 32. Lebensjahr bis zu ihrem Lebensende in psychiatrischen Anstalten, wo sie ihr umfangreiches Werk von Zeichnungen und Texten in bunter Fettkreide schuf. Laut ihrer Psychiaterin und Mitverfasserin des Oeuvrekatalogs Aloïse Corbaz Jacqueline Porret-Forel fand die Künstlerin ihre Inspiration in den Printmedien. So erstaunt es nicht, dass Themen aus den sechziger Jahren, wie die Kennedys oder die Papstwahl, in ihrem Werk eine wichtige Rolle spielen. Aloïse interessierte sich darüber hinaus auch für schöne und starke Frauen, wie es Madame Necker im 18. Jahrhundert war. Madame Necker, mit gebürtigem Namen Suzanne Curchod, lebte und arbeitete als Schriftstellerin in der Westschweiz und war eine wichtige Salonière der Aufklärung. Aloïse counts, in addition to Adolf Wölfli and Louis Soutter, as one of the most important representatives of outsider art, or Art Brut, in Switzerland. Outsider art is an art form which refers to the autodidactic art of people with mental disabilities. From when she was 32 years old, Aloïse lived until her death in psychiatric institutions, where she created her extensive work of drawings and texts in coloured crayon. According to her psychiatrist and co-author of the catalogue raisoné Aloïse Corbaz Jacqueline Porret-Forel the artist found her inspiration in the print media. So, it is not surprising that topics from the 1960s, such as the Kennedys or the election of the Pope, play an important role. Aloïse was also interested in beautiful and powerful women, such as Madame Necker from the 18th century. Madame Necker, nèe Suzanne Curchod, lived and worked as a writer in Western Switzerland and was an important Salonière of the Enlightenment.
