Lot Essay

Using a customised panoramic camera and long exposure times, Parker explores the mythological wonder and abstract beauty of solitary geological form. The silent landmasses rising out of the sea -- the locations of which are kept secret by the artist -- lure in the viewer much like the mythological Sirens encountered by Odysseus in The Odyssey. Parker's works are held in many collections, including the Citibank Private Bank Collection.
