Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 31 January 2008, 18K white gold screw back numbered 4'438'901, white gold and wooden setting pin, instructions, original fitted veneered presentation box and outer packaging.

Reference 5970 was introduced to the market at the Basel Fair in April 2005 and replaced the celebrated reference 3970. The model immediately enjoyed enormous popularity amongst collectors and was available in white gold or pink gold only until 2007 when the production of these two versions ceased. Reference 5970 in yellow gold was in production only in 2008. Since 2008, the model has been available exclusively in platinum.

The present white gold reference 5970 has never before been offered in public and comes from a true connoisseur's collection. It is, consequently, no surprise that it is still today in excellent condition and that all the original paperwork and accessories are accounted for. Few complicated wristwatches, not just by Patek Philippe, do so wonderfully combine a classic, nearly vintage look with the advantage of being contemporary and consequently so wonderful practical for daily wear. The white gold version of reference 5970 has gained world-wide popularity thanks to its hard-to-beat looks. In fact, its grey dial, the dark markers with a subtle brownish hue and the case color are in perfect harmony, striking but always discreet.
