The present watch, the 41 mm. version, is number 09761 of a limited edition of 11007 pieces especially made by Omega to Commemorate 50 years of James Bond in films and offered to benefit the Turkish Benevolent Association. The bezel is bearing the number 50 in red to celebrate this special anniversary.
Turkish Benevolent Association
Trkiye Yardim Sevenler Dernegi or Turkish Benevolent Association is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation named by the great leader of Turkey, Kemal Atatürk. It was established in 1928 and is the largest national aid society in Turkey. Headquartered in Ankara, the Association has branches in one hundred and fifty-seven municipalities and townships across the country. Its main goals are to give food and medical help to needy families and to provide scholarships for thousands of students who need financial assistance.
One of the principal missions of the Association is to help poor families by purchasing their handmade products, thus assisting them economically. This method of providing employment gives them security and dignity which is the ultimate goal of the Association.
The Association realises revenues from the sale of handiwork and raises additional funds from private donations, charity bazaars and social events. In times of national disasters like floods, earthquakes, etc. it tries to reach the victims in the shortest time possible and give them a helpful hand, financially, medically and psychologically. The Turkish Benevolent Association strives to have its aims and charitable activities to be known and recognised internationally. Amongst other projects, the Association has collected and donated money for the construction of a primary school, a 1600 student apprenticeship centre and a dormitory for 600 female students. Thousands of volunteers work for the Turkish Benevolent Association and give their time and energy.
The money raised with this gift will be used exclusively for the higher education of young Turkish women, to award them scholarships and to help them support themselves while attending university, until the completion of their university studies.
