An extensive Chinese export iron-red and gilt dinner service
Circa 1800
Each painted with a central roundel of fruiting flower-sprays, surrounded at the well with a band of stylised trailing foliage, the rim with similar band and gilt geometrical band with suspending tassels, comprising:
-Two tureens with rope-twist handles and covers with floral finial, 19.5 cm. wide;
- Two small tureens, covers and stands en suite, the stands 19.5 cm. wide;
- Two rectangular serving bowls and covers, 24.5 cm. wide;
- Four oval serving bowls and covers, 28 cm. wide;
- Two sauce-boats, 18 cm. wide;
- Four oval salt-cellars, 10 cm. wide;
- Two salad bowls, 24.5 cm. wide;
- Two fish-serving-dishes, 40-43.5 cm. wide;
- Seven hot-water plates, 25 cm. diam.;
- Twenty-four oval serving dishes in sizes, 26-44 cm. diam.;
- A dish and strainer, 40 cm. wide;
- One hundred and thirty-seven dinner plates, 24.5 cm. diam.;
- Nine soup-plates, 23.5 cm. diam.;
- Sixty-two side-dishes, 19.5 cm. diam.;
- Eleven cake-dishes, 15.5 cm. diam.;
- Eighteen teabowls;
