Details
Château Mouton Rothschild--Vintage 1953
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Two capsules cut to reveal cork branding and reconditioned at the château in 1990's. Three original capsules, slightly corroded and damaged, one with signs of old seepage. Bin-soiled labels, one slightly stained and one damaged. Levels: one base of neck, one upper, one mid/upper and two mid-shoulder. In carton
Tasting Note: Also over 20 notes over 40 years, and not one less than outstanding: always a glittering, dazzling bouquet and flavour, with incomparable spiciness and zest. More recently (in Nov 2003): perfect fragrance and flavour, very sweet, great length. Most recently: lovely colour; very fragrant, complex, a whiff of spicy eucalyptus, glorious; fairly sweet. Perfect flavour and weight. Indescribably magnificent. Last tasted September 2005 ****** M.B.
