Château d'Yquem--Vintage 1962
Sauternes, 1er grand cru classé
Three very slightly corroded capsules. Three slightly creased and damaged, otherwise good labels. All levels base of neck or better. In original wooden case
Tasting Note: Three notes within 9 months. In September 2002: rich old gold; 'calve's foot jelly'; rich, crème brülée. A month later, in magnum: warm amber; honey and apricot on nose and palate, rich of course. Most recently, at Yquem, recorked: medium-amber, 'paler than expected', open lime rim; very fragrant orange blossom, melon, caramel; medium-sweet delicious flavour - like thick-cut marmalade, some softness yet dry finish. Very much as programmed. Last tasted June 2003 **** Crisp and lovely now. Will keep. M.B.
