Lot Essay

This painting depicts the Vedder Fountain in Louis C. Tiffany's garden at Laurelton Hall, his estate in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. Tiffany and Peterson were close friends and travel companions and in 1911, he invited her to Laurelton Hall where she stayed for several months, painting the estate's beautiful gardens.
