MARKED FABERGÉ, WITH THE WORKMASTER'S MARK OF VIKTOR AARNE, ST PETERSBURG, 1899-1904, SCRATCHED INVENTORY NUMBER 6015
Semi-circular, enamelled in translucent yellow over a sunburst guilloché ground, the oval aperture containing a picture of H.M. King George V, with seed pearl-set laurel fronds beneath and vari-colour gold foliate swags above, surmounted with a ribbon crest, mother-of-pearl back with a gold scroll strut, marked on lower rim and inside strut

Lot Essay

A similar frame with turquoise guilloché enamelling by Victor Aarne was purchased as a gift by the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928) to her sister Princess Thyra of Denmark (1853-1933) on 22 July 1900. See, Imperial and Royal Presents, Sotheby's, London, 24 November 2008, lot 19.
