Lot Essay

A native of Nanhai, Guangdong, Yu Zhongjia (1908-1941) was the son of renowned scholar Yu Chufan . Though Yu was born deaf and dumb, he possessed extraordinary talent and was apprenticed under Deng Erya and Zheng Songxian. He acquired prestige at a young age and was respected by prominent members of society such as Tan Zu'an and Ye Gongchuo.
