Lot Essay

US$170,000-250,000

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 20 November 2009, leather portfolio, leather wallet, instruction manual, product literature, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

Fresh to the market, the present watch is one of only 4 examples to have come up for auction to date.

The reference 5102 is an astronomical wristwatch that borrows the principle of the celestial canopy from the most complicated wristwatch ever produced by Patek Philippe - reference 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon (please view lot 2748). The nocturnal sky of the northern hemisphere rotates to show the apparent angular motion of the stars and moon as well as the progression of the phases of the moon. Hours and minutes are displayed by two pierced white hands. A delicate elliptical contour on the inside of the glass frames the portion of the sky that can be seen from all cities that share the latitude of Geneva.
