It takes passion, dedication, time and a perpetual quest for knowledge to become an astute and seasoned collector. A collection of any kind is therefore always a reflection on the collector's way of life and philosophy. For a collector of timepieces, forming a collection is particularly challenging due to the many choices and subjects in the realm of haute horologerie. In this private collection of twenty-five timepieces, the collector made a cognizant decision to concentrate on Swiss timepieces manufactured by the world's most prestigious and trusted brands. This blue-chip collection suggest that our collector is a man of excellent taste who believes in tested values, heritage and tradition as illustrated by timepieces from some of the oldest and most well-known watch manufacturers such as Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Girard Perregaux and Blancpain. In fact, between these brands, they share over 100 decades of watch manufacturing expertise and technological innovations between them. At the same time, our collector is not without imagination and fantasy as he is attracted by more adventurous yet established "doyens" of contemporary watch brands which are well known for their innovative and often witty designs such as Franck Muller and Ulysse Nardin. The passion for complications is yet another denominator which runs throughout the collection. Many of the twenty-five watches are a showcase for complex movements, in particular, the minute repeating mechanism and the tourbillon. Highlights include three minute repeaters from Patek Philippe tracing the illustrious house's history of this highly complex mechanism. The highly coveted Ref 5029 is a rarity; produced in 1997 on the occasion of the opening of Patek Philippe's new manufacture in Geneva, only 10 examples were made in platinum. Equally rare and out of production since 2012, the Ref. 5016 presents a minute repeater, tourbillon, perpetual calendar and moon phase in a classical platinum case. Undoubtedly the jewel amongst the twenty-five watches, the collection boasts of the only known example of a Ref. 3979 in platinum with a black enamel Breguet dial. Resisting the test of time, fashion trends and economic precariousness, our collector had the foresight to amass a collection of timepieces which not only distinguish themselves through the elegance, refinement and beauty of their designs, they are outstanding examples of manufacturers which dedicate themselves to perpetuating traditions and to testing the limits of mechanical artistry through their dedication to the art of horology.
